The NRMA

Australia's largest member-owned motoring organisation, providing roadside assistance, EV charging, car rental, travel and member rewards, and advocating on road safety and infrastructure.

The NRMA is Australia's largest member-owned organisation, founded in 1920 with the purpose of keeping Australians moving. It has more than 3 million members and operates across motoring and roadside assistance, travel, car rental, electric vehicle charging and member rewards. The organisation traces its origins to a small roads advocacy group and continues to campaign on road safety, infrastructure improvement and regional development.

Its transport operations centre on NRMA Roadside Assistance and the NRMA Electric Vehicle Charging Network, a growing network positioned around Australia's transition to cleaner transport. Technical work spans electric vehicle charging infrastructure, connected mobility services and a digital member rewards platform. The NRMA also runs SIXT car rental, which is present in more than 100 countries, and NRMA Parks and Resorts, a portfolio of over 70 holiday destinations across Australia.

Membership extends beyond the roadside: My NRMA Rewards provides thousands of discounts on everyday essentials such as fuel and groceries, as well as dining, shopping and experiences. Because the organisation is member-owned rather than shareholder-driven, its stated focus is on the members and communities it serves, with a mission to get Australians home safely.

The NRMA's work is concentrated in Australia, with international reach through the SIXT rental operation. Its industry interests cover motoring and roadside assistance, travel and tourism, car rental, EV charging and clean transport, member rewards and retail discounts, and road safety and infrastructure advocacy.
