Wesley Mission Queensland Limited
Brisbane, Queensland, AU
Queensland not-for-profit community service provider founded in 1907, delivering aged care, disability support, mental health, palliative care, retirement living and crisis support.
Wesley Mission Queensland Limited is a not-for-profit community service provider and an Institution of the Uniting Church in Australia. Founded in 1907, when three community nurses began reaching out to homeless people on the streets of Brisbane, the organisation grew out of a mission activity of the Albert Street Uniting Church and has operated for more than a century. It is based in Brisbane and works across Queensland.
The organisation runs roughly 90 services spanning aged care, disability support, mental health, palliative care, retirement living and community crisis support. Its residential aged care arm covers 13 homes; disability support includes 14 specialist disability accommodation facilities; palliative care is delivered through two hospices; and retirement living operates across three villages. Mental health services and crisis support form part of the wider community offering, which includes work with people facing hardship, poverty, vulnerability and homelessness.
Wesley Mission Queensland employs approximately 3,000 people and is supported by 2,400 volunteers. Operations are guided by the Wesley Charter, a framework emphasising relationships, respect and compassion, alongside founding principles of justice, inclusion and enabling people to live with choice and independence.
